(I stole this photo from Doxy, I hope that she's OK with that!)
Oh, my amazing friend Doxy has written a post in which she details the contents of her letter to her insurance company.
Doxy - she is fierce. Seriously!
Don't believe me? Well click here to read it for yourself.

I am honored that you linked me, and pleased as punch that you featured the photo.
ReplyDeleteI hate those evil wankers. I'd put them all out of business if I could. (And I'd find better jobs for their employees, where they didn't have to sell their souls to the devil to make a living.)
Pax,
Doxy
And excellent link, an excellent rant. Doxy, you get the bottles, I'll get the gasoline. Insurance companies add no value to health care. They exist to skim 20-30% off for overpaid execs and shareholders. Just filthy.
ReplyDeleteRIGHT ON!!!! Thanks for the link - I loved her letter. Scumsucking doesn't even fully cover it. Healthcare mafia is more like it.
ReplyDeleteFran, Your post is confusing. Are you saying the insurance company is evil because it is lobbying its customers -- or is there some other evil from which we should be delivered? I don't get it.
ReplyDeleteHelene
I'm not Fran, but I will say this...
ReplyDeleteInsurance companies are evil. They are middle men, preying on people's fears and suffering. They do NOTHING to improve healthcare, and they drain an obscene amount of money out of people's pockets. (Not to mention that they *are* the ones with "Death Panels.")
I will never understand why people defend them or act as if they are somehow more caring and trustwothy than the government. They are there purely to make profits (even the "nonprofit" ones). AFAIC, anyone who makes a profit on someone else's suffering is evil, by definition.
(And no, that wouldn't apply to healthcare professionals, who make a living by trying to *alleviate* or prevent people's suffering.)
But, IMNSHO, it takes a special kind of evilness to take people's hard-earned premium monies and use those funds to finance a lobbying campaign in which you ask your customers to work against the thing they need the most. Evilness and a cynical assessment of the mental acuity of the sheeple who keep you in business.
As we say down here, "That dog won't hunt." BCBSNC is about to find out that people are not quite as stupid and gullible as their high-priced consultants led them to believe.
Doxy
Sorry, that should have read...
ReplyDelete"They do nothing to improve ACCESS to healthcare...."
Helene - I see that Doxy replied, the point made is her point, but I am agreement.
ReplyDeleteHope that clarifies things. If you have some thoughts, please do share them here.
Thanks and welcome to the blog!
